Defender Drills for Table Tennis / Ping-Pong

Thursday May 31, 2007
Even with the impending speed glue ban, defenders have it tough in table tennis, without a doubt. Besides the difficulties of speed glue and modern technology, there is also problem of trying to find good training drills to perform. The usual attacker drills just aren't enough for a defensive player, and then there is the additional problem of finding drills that suit your training partner as well. Most defenders train with attackers, but what if you and your partner are both defenders?

As a defender myself, I've got an idea or two to help my fellow backspin buddies out. I've started with the classic loop-push-chop defensive drill, and I'll be adding some more defensive drills in the weeks to come. Vive le defence!
