Final Results - 2008 USATT Olympic Trials, January 11-13, 2008, Philadelphia.

Sunday January 13, 2008
The USATT Olympic Trials are now finished, in what has been hailed by those attending as an unqualified success, both on and off the tables. Congratulations to all those involved - take a well deserved bow!

Men's Results:
The top four placegetters, who are now eligible to take part in the 2008 North American Olympic Trials to take place in April at Vancouver, BC, Canada, are:
1. David Zhuang (9W, 2L), 2. Han Xiao (9W, 2L), 3. Eric Owens (8W, 3L), 4. Cheng Yinghua (8W, 3L).

Mark Hazinski (8W, 3L), who finished in fifth place overall, narrowly missed out on a chance to compete in the North American Olympic Trials, but is eligible to be a member of the 2008 US National Men's team - which means that he can take part in the 2008 World Championships as a member of the USA team.

Women's Results:
The top four female placegetters, who are now eligible to take part in the 2008 North American Olympic Trials to take place in Vancouver, BC, Canada, are:
1. Crystal Huang (8W, 0L), 2. Nan Li (7W, 1L), 3. Jacqueline Lee (6W, 2L), 4. Whitney Ping (5W, 3L).

Since the USA's Wang Chen and Gao Jun have both already qualified for the Olympics due to their world ranking, this means that there is only one more potential spot for a US woman to go to the Olympics (there's a maximum of 3 players per association). To do so, one of the four above qualifiers must finish in the top three positions in the North American qualifier in April against Canada.
