Ping-Pong without speed glue - better or worse? Photo © 2008 Greg Letts, licensed to About.com, Inc.
Now that the ITTF's speed glue ban has well and truly kicked in, what has been the reaction from professional players and coaches? The European Table Tennis Union's website has two interesting articles examining both the players and coaches experiences in the initial days of the speed glue ban. Interesting points that arise from the discussion include the increase in injuries due to changes in technique, complaints about the lack of time to adjust following the Olympics, and the scarcity of devices to check for illegal rackets. Overall, it seems that most players and coaches interviewed are not that impressed, but they all seem to agree that the best players before the ban will once again eventually be the best players after the ban, once everybody has had time to adapt to the changes.

Thanks to forum member absuhp who was kind enough to bring this to our attention in the About.com Table Tennis Forum.
