Once a ping-pong player is past the beginner stages, he will then begin to look around for a table tennis rubber that suits the particular style that he is developing. It is at this stage that I am often asked to recommend a rubber that would be likely to fit the bill. I have a few personal favorites that I tend to recommend most often, but when I put the question to the forum at About.com, our forum members came up with a number of other suggestions as well for rubbers that can be considered 'classics'.

Whether these rubbers will continue to deserve their classic status in the wake of the recent speed glue ban remains to be seen. And of course other rubbers may be developed that will stake a claim to classic status. But in the meantime, players can rest assured that the ten classic table tennis rubbers on this list are proven performers over the years.
