The About.com table tennis forum has had the good fortune of late to be the recipient of regular postings from the PATT Institute (where PATT = Principles Approach to Table Tennis).
I would highly recommend taking a look at the PATT Notes page, where a number of their table tennis discussions are archived. From research into the six different footwork types, to thoughts on learning complex motor skills (such as a forehand loop), to the use of drills that reflect proper tactical play in matches (such as changing the direction of the ball), there are a number of articles on the finer points of table tennis that are hard to find elsewhere on the Internet. They also have two sample chapters of their book "PATT - A Principles Approach to Table Tennis", available for you to peruse. Check it out! True, some of the language reads a bit like a university textbook, but the concepts being talked about still have good practical application. |
