Wang Liqin defeated Ma Lin to become the male winner at the ITTF Tournament of Champions, held at Changsha, China, on the 20-21 December 2006. On the female side, Zhang Yining triumphed over her colleague Wan Nan, to become the Ladies Champion of Champions.
