Basement Ping-Pong - How to Play the Basic Strokes

Playing good basement ping-pong is a little different to playing good advanced table tennis. Since the ping-pong paddles used in basement ping-pong generally have much less power and grip, there are some advanced strokes that are very difficult to perform at all, and generally should not be attempted.

The techniques used for the basic strokes are fundamentally the same, but there are still some important differences to be aware of when using cheaper, less grippy, and less powerful table tennis bats. I'll be demonstrating the basement techniques using a cheap $10 bat with no sponge and very little grip, in order to show that even basement players will benefit from using correct technique in their shots.
