Return to Ready Position

The player has returned to his ready position.

Points to look for:

  • The player has placed more of his body weight on his right leg, as show by the lowering of the right heel, while he is still on the ball of the left foot. This is because the player is going to adjust his position with a small shuffle step, and he is going to move his left foot first. Judging from his body position, the player is probably going to move a little to his right and possibly back a small amount.
  • The shoulders, hips and waist have finished turning, and are back in their original positions.
  • Note that the racket has returned to a neutral position, with the tip facing forwards, and with no tilting to the left or right.
  • The player once again has a wide stance, with bent knees, and a small forward lean, allowing him to move in any direction with equal ease.
