This tutorial is a companion to the basement backhand push - front view tutorial, but showing a side view instead. Rather than repeat much of the front view version, I'll just be pointing out items that are relevant to the side view.

Points to look for:

  • The position of the feet, with the right foot slightly further back than the left foot, is clearly visible from the side view.
  • Note the slight forward lean of the body, while the upper arms hang almost straight down, putting the elbows in front of the torso.
  • Note also that the player is not standing right next to the the table, since that would mean he would be cramped up against deep balls, and would have to move backward to play them comfortably.
