The ball has almost reached the player, and he has begun his forward swing to hit the ball.

Points to look for:

  • The player has continued to bend a little from the waist, to bring him closer to the ball.
  • The right shoulder is now a little lower than the left shoulder.
  • The player has continued to watch the ball closely.
  • The upper part of the playing arm is relatively still, while the forearm and wrist of the playing arm are starting to move quickly, as shown by the blurring in the photograph.
  • The angle of the bat is almost vertical, with just a slight opening of the bat face.
