The player has almost finished returning to his ready position.

Points to look for:

  • The shoulders, hips and waist still have a little more turning to the left to do to finish recovering.
  • The playing arm is back in a neutral ready position, with the bat pointing about a foot to the right of the ball, with the tip forward and the edge vertical.
  • The knees are slightly bent, and will bend more since the player is currently in the middle of lowering into his crouch.
  • The player is expecting another topspin to his backhand, so his feet are squarer to the table than if he was unsure where the opponent was going to hit the ball, in which case the right foot would be further back.
  • The free arm has continued to move forward towards its basic ready position, in synch with the playing arm.
