The ball is well on its way, and the player is beginning his return to his ready position.

Points to look for:

  • The player is beginning to push off both legs to get out of his crouch. Note that he is pushing a little backwards as well, since he wants to be a little further back from the table when he finishes his recovery.
  • The shoulders, hips and waist are beginning to turn back to the left.
  • The playing arm is swinging towards the left. This is partially the final part of the forward swing, and also part of the recovery action.
  • The player is now watching the flight of the ball, as well as his opponent.
