Contact has been made with the ball, and the ball is now on its way back over the net.

Points to look for:

  • The player has now placed his right foot on the ground, with the knee a little bent to aid balance.
  • As mentioned previously, the bat has moved forward and a little upwards, in order to put a little backspin on the ball and help lift the opponent's backspin over the net.
  • The player has misjudged the stroke a little, and the ball is going higher than desired. This will result in a drop shot that will bounce higher and deeper on the table than intended.
