The player has decided to play a drop shot, and is moving towards where he thinks the ball will land on the table.

Points to look for:

  • As far as the opponent is concerned, the player has not yet committed to any one shot. So the oppponent cannot start to move forward to get the drop shot without risking the player seeing him move and hitting the ball hard instead.
  • The player is continuing to watch the ball, and keep an eye on his opponent at the same time.
  • A simple shuffle step is being used to move to the ball, so that the player is well balanced, and can change his mind and hit the ball hard if he wishes.
