The player has finished his follow through, and the ball has just touched the net.

Points to look for:

  • The player is now watching to see how successful his drop shot will be. If the ball was going too high or deep, he would prepare for an attack by his opponent. If he has made a good (short and low) drop shot, he will prepare to make another strong attack.
  • Not every player uses a small stroke to play a drop shot. An alternative approach is to hold the bat as still as possible during the shot, using only the bat angle to control the ball. This particular player likes to lift the bat to help soften the contact, improving his control.
