As discussed previously, your best base position will be changing from stroke to stroke during the rally. Always make it a goal to be moving towards this best location once you have hit your stroke.

At the time you hit the ball, you should know fairly well where the ball is going to go, with what pace and spin. You should also have a fair idea where your opponent is and what his likely responses are. This will give you a large and fuzzy base location to begin with.
