medium pimpled rubber

By Greg Letts, About.com

Definition: There is no technical definition of medium pimpled rubber, but most table tennis players consider medium pimpled rubber to be pimples out rubber, with or without sponge underneath, that displays a limited ability to give long pimpled effects, along with better hitting capability.

The long pimpled effects are considered to be the ability to reverse the spin on the ball (to give the opponent his own spin back), and the ability to 'wobble' the ball (make the ball move unpredictably in the air).

Also Known As: medium pips
