The ball has bounced on the table, and the player is moving into position to play his stroke.

Points to look for:

  • The player has started to step forward with his left foot, to bring his body closer to the ball. Note how he is stepping around the side of the table in this instance.
  • The player is moving his body so that he can hit the ball between his belly button and left hip, which is the correct position to give good control.
  • The free arm is being used to help balance the player while he is reaching for the ball.
