The player is now beginning to return to his ready position after stroking the ball.

Points to look for:

  • The player is now pushing off his left leg to get back into his position. If the player had not moved his left foot around the side of the table, he would have leant too far forward and would find it very hard to get back into position quickly.
  • The bat is being brought back into a neutral position, bearing in mind that the ball has been hit crosscourt.
  • The player is now focusing on how his opponent is handling his flick.
