The player is now beginning his forward swing to make contact with the ball.

Points to look for:

  • The player is continuing to watch the ball right up to the point of contact, in order to make sure he can adjust to any changes in the ball's movement.
  • The player has lifted his playing elbow a fraction to start the forward swing, while the bat has moved a little downwards and to the right.
  • The wrist is now cocking in preparation to snap through the ball in a brushing motion at contact.
  • The player is straightening his upper body a little, as part of his upward swing.
