The player has stepped forward and sideways with his right foot, and is now in position to play the loop.

Points to look for:

  • The player is continuing to watch the ball right up to the point of contact, in order to make sure he can adjust to any changes in the ball's movement.
  • The player has started turning his waist, hips and shoulders back to his left, and at the same time is swinging his bat forwards and upwards to make contact with the ball.
  • The free arm is turning with the shoulders to the player's left, acting to help keep the player balanced.
  • The speed of movement of the player's forearm and wrist is displayed by the heavy amount of blurring in the photograph.
