The player is now starting his follow through after contacting the ball.

Points to look for:

  • As it is possible to see from the photograph, the player has flicked the ball crosscourt.
  • The speed of the bat is shown by the heavy blurring of the bat in the photo.
  • Note the comparative lack of blurring of the player's upper arm, compared to his forearm. This gives an idea of the amount of snapping of the forearm that is used, rather than lifting with the upper arm.
  • The bat is travelling upwards and a little forwards, since the player is lifting a backspin ball over the net. The type of contact could be compared to making a mini loop over the table, just using the wrist and forearm.
