The player is now beginning to return to his ready position after stroking the ball.

Points to look for:

  • The player is now pushing off his right leg to get back into his position. If the player had not moved his right foot under the table, he would have leant too far forward and would find it very hard to get back into position quickly.
  • The bat is being lowered back into a neutral position, bearing in mind that the ball has been hit crosscourt.
  • The player is now focusing on how his opponent is handling his flick.
