The ball has bounced on the table, and the player is now stepping in with his right foot.

Points to look for:

  • The left leg has been placed close to the table, while the right foot is being placed near the ball.
  • The right foot is pointing towards the camera, which will allow the player to bend his right knee comfortably during the stroke. If the right foot was pointed forward, it would put a lot of stress on the knee, and risk an injury.
  • It is easy to see from this side view how the player has brought the bat backwards simply by turning his shoulders, instead of using his right arm only.
  • Notice also how the bat has been brought behind the right knee to get the bat well below the ball, since the serve is a backspin ball that the player will need to lift.
