The ball is descending, and the player has finished his backswing.

Points to look for:

  • The bat has moved backwards at a little lower than shoulder height, and the shoulders have turned a fraction towards the left.
  • The cocking of the wrist can be clearly seen from this angle.
  • The player has raised his left foot, which will be thrust downwards at the time of contact to help maintain balance when swinging a little faster than normal.
  • Note the angle of the bat, which is now partly facing away to the player's left.
