The ball is on its way to the table, and the player has nearly finished his follow through.

Points to look for:

• The bat is now moving more downward than forward. This is because the playing elbow has not moved during contact. Checking the position of the playing elbow against the previous two photographs will confirm this.
• The player has hit the side of the ball more than the top of the ball.
