Beijing 2008 will be Chuan Chih-Yuan's second Olympics, after reaching the quarterfinal stage in Athens in 2004 in the Men's Singles while representing Chinese Taipei.

A shakehand grip player who loops from both forehand and backhand and who possesses fleet footwork, Chuan has been a top player for many years but without snaring a major title. Could the 2008 Olympic Games be his big break?

Chuan is pictured here showcasing his impressive leg strength while returning the ball with a forehand topspin. In the background is his coach, who also happens to be his mother! Chuan's mother is Lee Kuei-Mei, who was a former member of the Chinese Taipei national team.
