Gao Ning of Singapore stepped up into the elite ranks of table tennis in 2007. Playing in his first Olympic Games, he will be looking to bring home a medal for his home country after his female compatriot Li Jia Wei faced the bitter disappointment of a 4th place finish in 2004.
Gao is shown here preparing for his service. I hope that he is going to flatten out his palm (the ball should be resting freely on the open palm), as well as bringing the ball back fully behind the endline of the table!
