With a cup of tea inside us and 7pm coming round, it was time to take to the court. The stadium isn't huge, but it's big enough to hold 8 tables in relative comfort. Barriers between the tables aren't really feasible since they would narrow the courts a bit too much. So you do get a few lets but everyone knows what to expect and don't worry about interruptions too much.

The tables are green Butterfly Europa 25's, which played quite well as far as I could see. The floor is wooden and quite good, and the red background is a bit unusual but works well. The only real quibble I have is that the lighting is a bit uneven, with one end of the table often having better lighting than the other, and sometimes even the forehand side of the table being better than the backhand (or vice versa). This could have been due to the use of 5 tables on one side of the hall compared to 4 on the other, which may have pushed the tables out of position regarding the lights. But they club needs that many tables due to the number of juniors and seniors that turn up!
