Simon had a very good tournament, leading from the front to help Victoria to be the top Australian State (with 5-4 wins over New South Wales and South Australia) in the teams competition, and being a losing semifinalist in the Mens Singles to Xiao Li Cai of Singapore.
Simon also achieved success in the Mens Doubles (losing finalist with Kyle Davis), and Mixed Doubles (losing in the quarterfinals with Melissa Tapper).
Notable wins for Simon included a tight 3-2 win over the tournaments No.1 seed, William Henzell, in the teams competition, which rescued Victoria from a 2-4 deficit to South Australia in the teams competition. Simon also beat the Singaporean defender Anlin Hao in the teams competition, to record the only defeat suffered by the Singaporean mens team members, who swept every other teams match 9-0.
