Is top-class table tennis the toughest sport out there? I certainly think it's up there as one of the hardest to master. But when it was reported by forum member
pongone1 that table tennis was ranked at a lowly #47 in an
ESPN list of the 60 toughest sports, based on 10 qualities (endurance, strength, power, speed, agility, flexibility, nerve, durability, hand-eye coordination, and analytical aptitude), it touched a nerve among our
ping-pong forum members.
So where should table tennis be ranked? I'm not exactly sure, but it should be a darn sight higher than #47. And with tennis coming in at #7, and squash at #22 I'm even more positive that these 'experts' who compiled the list don't have a clue what real table tennis is all about.
