Table Tennis in the News - Virtual Reality Ping-Pong

Monday January 8, 2007
Forum newshound pongone1 has found another news article with interesting ramifications.

Scientists have designed and built a virtual reality table tennis simulation, that allows humans to compete against a computer. What makes this special is that this simulation can apparently keep up with most players short of professionals, with a top ball speed of up to 15 meters a second - which is pretty fast! How long will it be before you can practice at home on your VR machine? Or take on Wang Liqin in the comfort of your own home?

Will this be the table tennis training center of the future? Photo © 2007 Greg Letts, licensed to About.com, Inc.
