The ball is heading over the net, and the player has finished his follow through.

Points to look for:

  • The limited range of movement of the elbow is clear from the sequence of photographs. The playing elbow has moved upwards and forwards, but not much more than a foot or so throughout the stroke.
  • By comparing the previous photographs, it is possible to see that the free arm is used as a fairly stationary counterweight, rather than swinging perfectly in synch with the playing arm.
