Points to look for:

  • The bat can be seen to be moving forward quite significantly, as well as to the side as shown from the front view. Note that the amount of forward movement is not quite as much as in the backspin/sidespin serve in this particular case.
  • The heavy wrist snap is evident from the large amount of blurring of the bat in comparison to the lesser blurring of the forearm.
  • By comparing the previous photograph, this photograph, and the next photograph, it is possible to see how the player has moved the bat when contacting the ball, moving sideways and upwards at contact.
