The ball is passing over the net, and the player is beginning his recovery to his ready position.

Points to look for:

  • The player is beginning to turn his shoulders to the right as part of returning to his basic ready position.
  • The player is continuing to watch the ball, as well as how the opponent is preparing to hit the ball.
  • The ball is going to pass only a few inches over the net, which helps make the serve harder to attack.
  • The player will only have to turn his bat so that the tip faces the line of play, and lift his free arm a fraction, and he will be back in his ready position.
