Table Tennis became an Olympic Sport in 1988 at the Seoul Olympic Games. From 1988 to 2004, the events contested were all individual events: Starting in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles events have been removed from the program. They have been replaced with a Men's Team and Women's Team event.
