Ann Marie Jolley is shown here doing just that, managing to make a forehand loop attack even though she has been forced to move backwards during the stroke. Notice how her body weight is back on her right leg, which has been straightened to help provide lift.
Even though Ann Marie has been pushed off-balance, she is maintaining her intense focus on the ball, allowing her to still make good contact under less than perfect conditions.
