Hi Greg,

I've sent you a picture of my quirky paddle. I started playing many years ago, but did not know the proper shakehand grip. I placed my first finger straight out into the middle of the paddle to support my forehand. Then meant a significant, time consuming grip change to play the backhand. When I was told of the proper forehand grip, I found that I could not adjust, the wrist angle felt too unusual for me.

Now, necessity being the mother of invention, I cut the blade of my paddle, as shown in the picture. This now allows me to play with all my fingers wrapped around the paddle, I don't need a support finger. I find the paddle very ergonomic, it fits the hand well and changes the center of gravity to be closer to the hand. Every paddle face angle is easily available and forehand to backhand and back flows easily and quickly. I was able to play with the cut paddle immediately, very little time was needed to adjust to the new feel.

As we all know, there are thousands of players with quirky grips. If you would like to share my story and picture on your site, please do so.

Keep up the great work on the site!

Your friend,

Glenn Sikorski,
Canada
